A group of parishioners have been visiting Charlton Horethorne CE Primary School and Milborne Port Primary School to present short enactments of stories from the Bible.  These stories come from the Bible Society's Open the Book (OtB).

The visits started in the Autumn of 2023 and the group has also presented stories in St John's church on two occasions, once during a Sunday service and the second to visitors to the Christmas Light Switch-on on 24 November 2023.  The photo is of the performance during the Christmas Light Switch-on.

OtB was created by the Bible Society who describe it as an exciting storytelling project where Bible stories are shared with children in a way that is fun, interactive and memorable. As invited guests in school, storytelling teams use the Open the Book programme to prepare and present a 10–15 minute scripted Bible story to a school assembly, involving the children as much as possible.

Storytelling teams are made up of trained and safely recruited volunteers from local churches and organisations, who sign up as members and follow the Open the Book Code of Practice.

A Bible story well told has the power to spark the imagination, inspire exploration, give hope, create a smile, teach important lessons and connect generations.
